Anything about me has to start with my family.
My wife, Nicole, and I have been married for 15 years. Together we have six children that we home-school. Our children are Dylan (11), Lydia (9), Caleb (6), Isaac (4), Phoebe (2), and Oscar (infant). We currently live in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
My wife is a stay-at-home Mom and, in addition to homeschooling our children, runs an online business tutoring nursing students all over the country via www.YourNursingTutor.com, and making/selling various homemade products via www.mommyplusmore.com.
As for me…
I am 40 years old and am originally from a little town called Poplar Bluff, Missouri. I joined the Navy a little after high school, and moved around until landing here in Virginia, attached to a submarine. Somewhere in the middle of that I met my wife in Tucson, AZ, while in school, where I first started learning how to program.
While on the submarine I got to go on a deployment over to the Middle East, visiting several countries including Spain, Bahrain, Dubai, Jordan, Crete, and Italy.
I spent eleven years in the Navy before going into full-time ministry in 2011 as the Administrative Pastor of Reality Church.
I spent three more years in that position until God abruptly called me away shortly after starting classes for my Masters of Divinity at Regent University.
Fast forward a few months and the Senior Pastor of Reality Church (where I just left) approached me with the news that he was being called to move to Florida and that he wanted me to take over the church. After much prayer and counsel and no sleep – I determined this was God’s will for me and the church.
I pastored Reality Church for a total of 5 years until God called all of us out into the world. At the beginning of 2019 we changed the name of the church to Real Family Fellowship to reflect who we had become. Then at the end of 2019, I felt God calling me out of that position, after spending two years focusing on training up disciples who make disciples. It felt like it was time to now let them go and do it! And that’s exactly what happened. I left it to the members to decided whether to stay together or not, and they felt the call from the Lord to disperse and actually do what we had learned. So, the corporate entity known as Reality Church/Real Family Fellowship has since closed, but the family that grew up there remains close and active.
About seven months before that, I started a part time position at the local Crisis Pregnancy Center managing a program called Mission Great Expectations. It is effectively a discipleship program that partners with local churches to support the mothers who keep their babies by meeting them where they are with the practical love of Jesus. I did it with a team from my church that year and it was awesome!
Fast forward to around the same time that the church was closing and I moved into a full-time position as Ministry Relations Manager. In this role I act as a liason between the CPC and church leaders, encouraging them to be more outspoken about abortion and support our ministry.
In my free time I enjoy playing “hop-on-pop” with my kids, spending time with friends, and long distance road cycling. I also dabble in guitar playing and have written a few songs.
